Amsterdam Art Week

18–22 November 2026

Amsterdam Art Week visitor guide

Dates, tickets, access & getting around

Use the Overview to choose exhibitions, then the Venues page to plan locations. This independent guide covers Amsterdam Art Week on 18–22 November 2026 and selected museum exhibitions open during those five days.

When to visit

Amsterdam Art Week runs Wednesday 18–Sunday 22 November 2026. Its fourteenth edition returns to November after five years in May, bringing exhibitions, openings and conversations to galleries, museums, project spaces and residencies around the city.

Rijksakademie Open Studios runs Thursday 19–Sunday 22 November, one day shorter than the citywide Art Week. Do not plan a public studio visit on Wednesday.

Art fairs elsewhere in November

PAN Amsterdam: public dates are 1–8 November 2026 at RAI Amsterdam, Hall 8, Europaplein. The Saturday 31 October opening is invitation-only. PAN is earlier than this guide’s 18–22 November dates; it is a separate fair rather than a concurrent Art Week listing.

Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam: the fair follows Art Week at De Kromhouthal. Its ticketed vernissage is Wednesday 25 November, 17:00–22:00; public days are Thursday 26–Sunday 29 November. Check the fair’s ticket options before extending a trip.

The main Overview contains programmes that overlap 18–22 November. These two fairs are noted here for travel planning rather than shown as active during Art Week.

Rijksakademie Open Studios

At Sarphatistraat 470, 48 resident artists present work and research through studio visits, performances, screenings and temporary interventions. The official Art Week listing confirms free admission on 19–22 November.

Daily public opening hours were not specified on that listing when checked. Confirm the current schedule before travelling and allow enough time to explore a residency building rather than treating it as a quick gallery stop.

Dates to prioritise

Wednesday 18: Art Week begins. The ongoing museum exhibitions and Lapdogs of the Bourgeoisie are options before many gallery shows begin on Thursday.

Thursday 19: Open Studios begins and several new gallery exhibitions open, including Saskia Noor van Imhoff, Folkert de Jong, Alicia Framis and patricia kaersenhout. MASS at Upstream announces an opening from 17:00–21:00.

Friday 20: Foam and the Van Gogh Museum offer evening hours until 21:00 under their published schedules.

Saturday 21: Final announced day for Lapdogs and INDEBT x Diez invites…. Stevenson’s regular Saturday hours end at 13:00.

Sunday 22: Final Art Week and Open Studios day. Galerie Ron Mandos publishes Sunday hours; many other selected galleries publish Wednesday–Saturday or Thursday–Saturday schedules only.

Gallery visits & Sunday hours

Several gallery exhibitions begin on 19 November. A show’s full date range does not mean its doors are open every day. Read Details for the actual weekly schedule, especially for Sunday.

The published schedules for GRIMM, Upstream, AKINCI, Stevenson, andriesse~eyck, Lumen Travo and Enari do not currently include Sunday. This guide marks those dates as unavailable under regular hours; check the organiser for any extra Art Week opening announcement.

INDEBT’s project is announced for 18–21 November, but its listing supplies Thursday–Saturday hours only. Wednesday’s public access remains unconfirmed.

Museum Quarter

At the Stedelijk, choose the Yayoi Kusama retrospective and Adam Pendleton’s Some Wild Kind of Language. Check the Kusama ticket and timed-entry conditions rather than assuming a standard museum ticket covers every exhibition.

Nearby, the Rijksmuseum presents Willem de Kooning at work, open daily 09:00–17:00. At the Van Gogh Museum, Whistler — Dandy and Disruptor and Yoshitoshi — Master of the Moon are included in the timed-entry museum ticket.

The Van Gogh Museum’s entrance is on Museumplein. During these dates its published hours are 09:00–17:00, with Friday until 21:00. Reserve museum slots before arranging the rest of the day.

Photography along the canals

Huis Marseille at Keizersgracht 401 presents three exhibitions: Adolphe de Meyer, Andrzej Steinbach and Maya Inès Touam. A single museum admission covers all three, plus the library and garden. Daily hours are 10:00–18:00, Thursday until 21:00.

Foam at Keizersgracht 609 presents Nadav Kander, Hailun Ma, Keerthana Kunnath and Myriam Boulos. Plan these as one museum visit, with daily hours 10:00–18:00 and Thursday–Friday until 21:00.

Both museums occupy historic buildings with access limitations and staircases. Contact the museum before booking if you need step-free access or assistance.

Beyond the galleries

Life After Love at Framer Framed in Oost examines image-making and political struggle. Admission is free, with optional contributions; the exhibition is open Tuesday–Sunday 12:00–18:00.

At the Oude Kerk, Mire Lee’s moving installations inhabit the historic church. Sunday visiting starts at 13:00, compared with 10:00 on the other guide dates.

In De Pijp, combine de Appel with INDEBT’s international gallery collaboration, checking both closing dates and access details. These projects offer a different scale of visit from the large Museumplein institutions.

Tickets & admission

The selected commercial gallery exhibitions are generally free. ROZENSTRAAT charges adults €6 and students €3, with free admission for visitors under 18 and selected pass holders. Museums charge their own admission, and some guided or In Depth events require separate registration.

Rijksakademie Open Studios and INDEBT’s gallery project list free admission. Framer Framed is free with an optional contribution. Museumkaart, ICOM and City Card eligibility varies between venues and can involve exhibition supplements or reservations.

A museum ticket may cover several listings at the same venue. Huis Marseille’s three exhibitions, Foam’s four exhibitions and the Van Gogh Museum’s current exhibitions can be planned as respective single visits.

Planning by neighbourhood

Museum Quarter: Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk are close together, but allow time for each museum and its ticket slot.

Canal District & Jordaan: Choose a route between GRIMM, Galerie Ron Mandos, Stevenson, Huis Marseille, andriesse~eyck and ROZENSTRAAT. Their hours differ; start with Stevenson early on Saturday if including it.

Leidseplein: Lumen Travo and AKINCI are neighbouring gallery stops on Lijnbaansgracht. De Pijp: INDEBT and de Appel can form a separate route. Oost: combine Rijksakademie and Framer Framed only after allowing for travel between their addresses.

Enari on Overtoom, Upstream near Kloveniersburgwal and Oude Kerk in the old centre extend the selection beyond a single museum district. The Venues page links each address to a map.

Getting around & access

Use walking routes for compact gallery clusters and public transport for longer moves. Check the current GVB planner for tram, metro, bus and ferry services rather than relying on a single fixed route across the city.

Opening hours on the Overview are local Amsterdam time. Leave space between timed museum entries and gallery visits, and check the organiser’s latest update before travelling.

Access varies significantly between historic canal houses, the church, residency buildings and purpose-built museums. For step-free routes, seating, accessible toilets and assistance, consult the venue directly. INDEBT’s building is under renovation.

Earlier in November: Museumnacht

Museumnacht Amsterdam takes place Saturday 7 November 2026, 19:00–02:00. It falls before this guide’s Art Week window and requires its own event ticket; regular museum passes do not replace that ticket.

The organiser offers one repeat museum visit with the event wristband from 8 November through 31 December, subject to its exclusions and reservation conditions. If you attended Museumnacht earlier in the month, check whether that benefit covers a museum on your Art Week route.

How to read this guide

The five date columns show Wednesday 18–Sunday 22 November. A filled date indicates announced public access under the published schedule. Grey dates fall outside the exhibition’s dates or published opening days. Where daily access is still unconfirmed, read the note in Details.

This is an independent editorial selection by Artopia. It is not affiliated with Amsterdam Art Week or the listed venues. The 28 listings and visitor information were checked on 16 October 2026 using official organisers, museums and galleries.

Official Art Week programme pages sometimes use the festival date as a listing’s start even when an exhibition opened earlier. Where the venue supplies a full date range, this guide uses that range and keeps the five-day access grid separate.
